1. Meowing
When they want to play with their owner, eat food and make their owner to clean their toilet, they meow. In my case, my girlfriend and I close a door usually when we sleep because my girlfriend has suffered from bronchitis. Whenever we closed the door, four of my cats crying as a same loud voice and it makes us really awkward to handle. So I get out of the bed and ease them to scrub their ears, play with them, and go back to sleep.
2. Scratching
Specially at the time they are hungry or want to come inside of the closed room, they harshly scratch the door. That makes our door almost broken, thus we cannot help to changing the hinge. Mostly scratching behavior is expressing their position among the clan or a signal for their territory, however, when they become lonely and feel depressed, it could be an expression of their discontent.

3. Sleeping
Usually they sleep a lot, more than 12 hours a day they enjoy to sleep. However, when they feel depressed or bad, they sleep way more than usual. If your cats sleep more than 16 hours and don't want to move a lot and stop to eat food, you should take care of them and keep an eye on them until they get better.
Any behaviors could show their emotion and feeling other than those behaviors. Just knowing three behaviors mentioned above, despite, will make you grasp your cats' feeling and emotion.
